You know the saying “music is a labor of love?” Well, I’ve learned this to be true. I always think that recording music will be a quick and easy task, but it never is. Between scheduling musicians, tracking days where my voice won’t cooperate and listening to a track hundreds of times, it is a process that takes time and energy and never goes as smoothly as I’d hope for. Looking back, I appreciate all of the nuances that go into the process as they keep me grounded and allow me to grow as a musician. I hope you enjoy all of the time, energy and love that went into these songs. Thanks to Kitt and Adam for sticking with me and performing at countless shows (I know, the Hawaii tours are painful). Thanks to Jordan for sitting in on the Hammond B3 and simply killing it. Thanks to Matt for being one of the best in the business and being able to read my mind and nail all of those sweet guitar licks (you always seem to know the right thing to play). Thanks to Kimiko for stepping into that vocal booth, taking some simple cues and creating some magical vocal harmonies that were absolutely perfect. Finally, a huge shout out to Charlie who embraced my vision and completely ran with it so much further than I thought was possible.
